Video: Sharon Van Etten – Serpents

Remember last week when I was complaining about the lack of new releases? Well that drought didn’t last too long as today we’ve got our first official video post of the new year about an album that’s coming out in 2012. Over the last couple of years Sharon Van Etten has justly been receiving loads of critical praise, with the folks at NPR Music particularly enamored with her brand of confessional, heartfelt songs. On February 7, the Brooklyn-based Van Etten will release her third full-length studio album, Tramp, via Jagjaguwar, which was produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, and features guest appearances from Aaron’s brother and band-mate Bryce, as well as members of Beirut, Wye Oak, The Walkmen and Doveman.

Last week Van Etten made her network television debut when she stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform a fiery version of Serpents that featured a three-guitar attack. Let’s check it out…

Sharon Van Etten will kick off a 22-date winter North American tour on February 10 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia, which includes a two-night hometown stand at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg and Bowery Ballroom on February 24 and 25 respectively.
